How to resize a video for YouTube
- Add your video — vertical, square or landscape.
- 16:9 at 1080 px with Fit is set, so nothing is cut; choose Fill to crop to the frame instead.
- Click Resize and upload the MP4 to YouTube.
Why are there bars on the sides?
A vertical or square clip is narrower than 16:9, so Fit adds bars rather than cropping your picture. Choose Fill to crop it to the frame instead.
Should a vertical video go up as a Short instead?
If it's short and vertical, YouTube Shorts shows it full-screen without bars — keep it 9:16. Use this preset for regular, landscape uploads.
Why 1920×1080?
It's full HD, the most common upload resolution: sharp on laptops and TVs, quick to process, and YouTube makes smaller versions from it automatically.
Is my video safe?
Yes. Your video is only used to create your result — it’s never shared and never used to train AI.
Which browsers work?
Recent Chrome, Edge and Safari 17+ work best. Firefox supports most tools; if a codec isn't available we'll tell you.
