Why iPhone photos are HEIC
Since iOS 11, iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) by default because it stores the same picture in noticeably less space than a JPG. The catch is compatibility: many Windows programs, Android apps, photo printers and upload forms still expect JPG. Converting gives you a file that opens everywhere.
Stop your iPhone saving HEIC
To have the camera take JPG photos from now on, open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible. Photos you've already taken stay HEIC, so convert those here.
Are my images safe?
Yes. Your images are only used to create your result — they’re never shared and never used to train AI.
Is quality lost?
At the default 90% quality the difference is invisible. Choose PNG for a lossless copy (larger files).
How many photos can I convert in one go?
Up to 200 HEIC photos of 100 MB each. When there are several, the JPGs download together as a ZIP.
Is my photo's location kept?
No. The converted JPG has no EXIF metadata, so GPS location, capture time and camera details are left behind — handy before sharing. Keep the original HEIC if you need them.
Does it work on Windows and Android?
Yes. HEIC decoding is built into the page, so it works in current browsers on Windows, Mac, Android and ChromeOS — no codec or app to install.
